Kupwara: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were gunned down in an encounter at Jumagund village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

Police have also recovered incriminating material including arms and ammunition.

“The three terrorists killed were affiliated to the banned terror outfit Lashkar. Identification is being done. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition recovered,” Kashmir Zone Police quoted IGP Kashmir as saying in a tweet.

The encounter started this morning based on specific inputs developed by the Kupwara Police regarding infiltration attempts by terrorists in Jumagund village.

Earlier on Wednesday, three terrorists of Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were killed during an encounter in Baramulla.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the security forces have neutralized 22 Pakistani terrorists so far this year.

“We have killed three Pakistani terrorists of JeM. They were active in this area for the last 3-4 months and we were keeping a watch on them. A policeman was also martyred. So far this year we have killed 22 Pakistani terrorists.
