Congress adopts ‘one family one ticket’ formula with rider

Udaipur: The Congress on Sunday adopted a ‘Nav Sankalp’ for sweeping reforms in the party organization to prepare the party for the next round of assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Sources gave this information.

He said the party has adopted the one family, one ticket formula with the condition that any other family member who wants to contest the election should work in the party in an exemplary manner for at least five years.

Sources said the party as part of its social engineering efforts to win the trust of weaker and oppressed sections of the society has approved 50 per cent representation to SC, ST, OBC and minorities at all levels of the organisation.

The resolution was adopted by the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body, after a final round of deliberations on key issues. The CWC meeting was held on the first day off the camp.

After three days of deliberations on organizational, political, economic, agricultural, social justice and youth-related issues, the dedicated panel constituted for the purpose submitted its report to the Congress President.

Debate on ideology, economic policy, social engineering topics

The Chintan Shivir panel debated complex issues related to ideology, economic policy and social engineering.

The Congress has been organizing a three-day convention in Udaipur in the backdrop of a string of electoral defeats and discontent in the party for the past several years.

The announcement also includes demands for a legal guarantee of MSP for farmers, 50 per cent representation in the party to people below 50 years of age and making unemployment a major issue in the upcoming elections.
