New Delhi: According to the Union Health Ministry, India on Friday registered a one-day increase of over 17,000 fresh COVID-19 cases after a gap of more than four months (124 days), registering a 30 per cent increase in daily cases. Of.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.32 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 3.07 percent.

It said the number of active cases has risen to 88,284, comprising 0.20 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.59 per cent.

The data showed that the active COVID-19 caseload registered an increase of 4,294 cases in the 24-hour period.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,27,49,056, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.21 per cent.

According to the ministry, 196.77 crore doses of the vaccine have been given in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

India’s COVID-19 infections had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September, 50 lakh on 16 September, 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and one crore on 19 December 2020.

The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore cases on May 4, 2021, three crore on June 23, 2021 and 40 million on January 25 this year.

Thirteen new people died due to the disease in the country – seven from Kerala, two from Punjab, and one each from Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
