In his letter on Saturday, Saibaba’s wife Vasant Kumari and his brother G. Ramadevudu wrote, ‘On Tuesday (10/05/2022) the jail authorities installed a wide-angle CCTV camera in front of his enda cell, which can capture the video of the entire cell including toilet seat, bathing area. That’s why he can’t even take a toilet to urinate and take a shower in front of the camera, because the camera records everything 24×7.

According to the letter, ‘his right to privacy, life and liberty is at risk, as he cannot use the toilet or bathe, or change clothes in front of the camera, which is not only running 24 hours a day, but all Is also recording something and is watching this recording continuously in the jail superintendent’s office.

His family said that the prisoners are entitled to all constitutional rights except the right to mobility and a few others.

He further said, ‘In these tense circumstances, till the time the camera is removed, they have decided to go on hunger strike indefinitely. At the same time, the responsible prison administrators should apologize for deliberately and cruelly violating the rights of the natural body and the rights provided by the Constitution.

According to the letter, Dr. GN Saibaba is planning to start a hunger strike in Nagpur Central Jail within two days.

He said that Saibaba is already suffering from various ailments including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (heart problem), high blood pressure, paralysis, spinal cord disease, horn cell disease, pancreatitis as well as cysts in the brain.

In the letter, Saibaba’s family members said, “We request you to take immediate action and provide them privacy, dignity and direct the concerned persons in Nagpur Central Jail to remove the CCTV cameras which put their privacy at stake.” are.’

The letter seeks to provide necessary proper treatment for health related ailments of Saibaba, grant him parole as per his entitlement and enable him to get proper medicine and necessary medical aid (which is not available in Nagpur).
