  • Israel says it launched a “pre-emptive” campaign against Islamic Jihad.
  • “Palestinian resistance is stronger today than in the past,” says Hussein Salami.
  • Israel accused Iran of smuggling weapons to Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza.

Tehran: The chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Saturday that Palestinians are “not alone” in the fight against Israel after facing air strikes in Gaza for a second day.

“Today, all anti-Jewish jihadist capabilities are working in a joint formation to liberate Jerusalem and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people,” Major General Hossein Salami said in a statement on the Guards. soldier news Website.

“We are with you on this path to the end, and let Palestine and Palestinians know that they are not alone,” he told Ziyad al-Nakhla, guest leader of the Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad, during a meeting in Tehran.

Israel said it launched a “pre-emptive” campaign against Islamic Jihad on Friday to prevent an imminent attack after days of tension along the Gaza border.

A senior group commander was killed in an airstrike on Gaza City on Friday, one of a wave of attacks in the region.

Gaza’s health ministry said a five-year-old girl was among the 12 killed in the Israeli bombing. More than 80 others have been injured.

Palestinian militants returned last year with a barrage of rocket fire at Israel, in the region’s worst fire since the war.

Salami stressed that the Palestinian response shows that “a new chapter” has begun and that Israel will “pay another heavy price for the recent crime”.

“Palestinian resistance today is stronger than ever,” he said, adding that terrorist groups have found “the ability to manage major wars.”

Iran’s foreign ministry condemned Israel’s “brutal attack” on Gaza.

According to a statement from his office, President Ibrahim Raisi said Israel “has once again shown the world its possessive and aggressive nature.”

Iran is a major supporter of Islamic Jihad and Nakhla has met with Raisi and other officials during his visit.

Israel has accused Iran of smuggling weapons to Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza. In March last year, it said it had intercepted two armed Iranian drones headed for Gaza.
