KPK health department to privatize 58 government hospitals
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) health department has decided to privatize 58 government hospitals across the province as part of the Public Private Health Initiative (PPHI).
According to the information, the Health Department KPK has issued an advertisement for the privatization of 58 hospitals.
Under the PPHI project, five professional hospitals, while all C and D category hospitals will be privatized. Hospitals will be handed over to private companies through Swasthya Foundation. 24 hospitals in three tribal districts of KPK will also be privatized.
Earlier on 27 May, the federal government decided to hike electricity prices by Rs 7 in addition to the privatization of profitable publicly owned discos after talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to release an tranche of US$1 billion. .

In addition, the IMF also expressed concern over electricity tariffs of Rs 2,600 billion and suggested the government to immediately privatize the publicly owned profitable discos. Further, it has been suggested to hand over the loss making discos to the provinces.
