New Delhi: The cricket fraternity mourned the sad demise of former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds, who died in a car accident on Saturday night. Symonds, 46, died in a car accident on Hervey Range Road near the Ellis River Bridge in Queensland, Australia, when his car rolled off the road, according to a police statement.

Several cricketers took to Twitter to mourn the passing of Symonds:

Symonds was injured in a car accident around 10:30 pm, according to a statement from Queensland Police.

Paramedics reached the spot after getting information about the accident but could not save the former Australian cricketer. Symonds was the only person in the car.

This is yet another sad blow for Australian cricket. Symonds is the third Australian cricketer to have died suddenly this year, following the tragic deaths of Shane Warne and Rod Marsh in March.
