Vistara hires Dreamliner aircraft to increase international flights

- Advertisment -

New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) Indian airline Vistara on Saturday said it has hired a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which will help it increase its number of flights to Frankfurt and Paris.

This is the first Dreamliner aircraft that Vistara has hired. The company already has two Dreamliner aircraft, which it bought from Boeing.

Vistara has had to hire aircraft as Boeing has not given it four more Dreamliner planes for two years than it was supposed to. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) wants Boeing to improve the quality of the Dreamliner before supplying the planes.

Vistara placed an order for six Dreamliner planes in 2018, but has currently received only two from Boeing. The second aircraft was received in August 2020.

The Dreamliner has a large fuel tank, which is helpful for long-haul international flights.

In a press release, Vistara said it is increasing its number of flights to Frankfurt in Germany and Paris in France as it is “about to receive the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft that it recently hired. ”

It is not yet clear when the plane will be delivered.

Meanwhile, Vistara said additional flights to Frankfurt and Paris will start from October 30.

The company said it will operate six weekly flights on the Delhi-Frankfurt route from October 30, as against three weekly flights at present. Vistara will operate five weekly flights on the Delhi-Paris route from October, while it currently has two weekly flights.
